The lady at the shop says that almost everyone has made this comment. Has anyone else bought a pair? Do they stretch out and become roomier with wear since they are cotton?

My friend, LaRa, produced an all Tribal calendar a couple of years ago for charity and it really was quite an undertaking for her. So much so that she said she couldn't do it again but thank goodness someone else has. Since this is a private tribe I will only invite you if you want to join. Sometimes the thought of adding yet another tribe can be just too much and I totally respect that! So holla here if ya want to join the party (and believe me it is a party!).

Anyway, Traci, I know you do so much, and might have some stuff, but I figured I'd ask everyone just in case:

Does anyone have any RECENT (like within the past 2years) ACE training materials. They are a bit pricey, as are the exams, so I'd like to save anything I can.

I'd mostly like the PT material, with the Anatomy and Kinesiology notes, as well as the Professional planning info. Also, practice tests and flash cards are welcome.

Hi there!

The big day has arrived, and we are estatic. The show of generosity and public support for our event is moving to us, and we feel confident that this is going to be the best RTV yet.

The only thing that remains to make this the best night possible is your attendance!
So here are some specifics:

RAISE THE VOICE

Dress: Whatever you desire. Because the time of our event is close to the end of many's work day, we prefer to leave this open-ended so as not to worry anyone that they must run home and change attire. That said, there is a tendency for dress to be business/casual.

Times:
6 p.m. silent auction and cocktail hour begins. Live music.
7 p.m. Brief notes from Rape Response. Words by emcee, Roxanne Holifield. Live auction with auctioneer Charlie Waldrop begins.
8 p.m. Silent auction closes!

Location: The B & A Warehouse, located on 1st Avenue South between 15th and 16th Streets. The address is 1531 1st avenue South

Tickets: The ticket cost is $50. Tickets are available for purchase at the door. If you are purchasing tickets at a student rate, please have a valid, current student ID available.

Complimentary tickets: To show our appreciation to our wonderful sponsors and donors, we have made complimentary tickets available to those individuals. The complimentary tickets are on numbered blue stock card with "complimentary" indicated and initialed on the surface. Your tickets should have been mailed to you. However, if for some reason you did not receive your complimentary tickets in the mail, or misplaced them, do not panic! There will be a complete updated list of complimentary tickets available at the will call area of check in. Just bring yourself and your guest and we will worry about the rest!

Special note about alcoholic beverages: We are pleased to be able to offer a wonderful selection of complimentary wine and beer as part of our event. That said, we want to caution our guests to drink responsibly and be sure to have valid identification and proof of age available. We also will have select wines available in the auction portion of our event. For the saftey of our guests and the preservation of our event, we ask that any winning bids be accompanied with valid identification and proof of age as well.

If you have any additional questions regarding the Raise the Voice event, please do not hesitate to contact us in the following ways:

General Questions: 458-8980 (Willie Holt)
Artwork/donor/sponsor questions:240-2216
Event volunteer Questions: 458-8981 (ask for Emily Tucker), or 612-5238

Thank you SO much for your continued support of Rape Response and Raise the Voice. We look forward to seeing you tonight!

Regards,
Your 2008 RTV board:
You were great! I wish I could have gotten a picture, but no photography was allowed. :( Traci, (I think that was you in the red skirt?) I loved that skirt!

I also liked the Irene group. I was just poking my nose around their studio last week, actually, but they were closed. I didn't even know there was a place on Southside for bellydance! I just happened to see their ad in the paper as I was leaving Roly Poly. :D So I went hunting.

*sigh* This just reminds me how much I would like to be in classes, somewhere, and how inflexible my schedule is. Seems most things start at 6 or 7 at the latest, and I don't leave work until 8. Friday and Saturday are my only free days. I really gotta get on top of this for the new year!

I personally can dance with or without shoes, I currently teach barefoot but my students have the choice right now whatever they want to wear or not wear, but I will be teaching at a Flamenco studio soon that has plywood floors, unvarnished (for now) and until I can get the flooring or carpeting, can shoes be an option to avoid the obvious splinters?

(I apologize as I will be reposting this on other tribes as well) Thank you my tribal sistahs!

I'm Jenni. I'm a college student at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, GA (south central GA). I started bellydancing 2 years ago and my first dvd was FCBD's "The Art of Bellydance". I was enchanted! I was initially in a tribal fusion troupe in Waycross, GA - Seladora Dance Co. That troupe disbanded almost a year ago and since then I have come to focus primarily on ATS. But, all by my lonesome! So, this year I'm going to try and start a ATS bellydance community here at ABAC. I have three girls interested so far, and I haven't fully advertised yet! So, hopefully everything will go smoothly and I might find a few committed individuals.

Seeing as how I'm just one state over from the Devyani Studio, I'm dying to go up to a workshop or hafla sometime. So maybe I'll see yall around! I've been wanting a doumbek, so maybe I can get one in time for those workshops coming up.

Spreading the ATS love,

You say to yourself "damn...I should have bought that one at Barnes and Noble before they sold out. Maybe the mall has one of those calendar stores I can get a great deal this weekend."
Well quit fooling yourself! You KNOW those calendars are full of the same photos year after year. The only one that might be worth getting is the 'Countdown to Bush out of Office', but what would your boss say? Besides, that mall traffic...blah!

I have the solution!!!

I look up from my spreadsheets every once in a while to see Sharon Kihara on my wall. Next month is the beautiful Moria, Mardi Love in May and then I start June out with my lovely dance sisters of Devyani!! What better way to break up your boring work routine!! Bellydancers on your wall!!

It's also perfect for the kitchen! Just hang it on the fridge and jot down all your gigs, rehearsals, halfas, etc.

So why buy one when you NEED two!!

There are only a few left. If you order today I can ship them out tomorrow and they can be on your desk Monday morning! What a way to start the first full work week of 2008!!

Did I mention they go all the way through JUNE 2009! OMG, you'll have plenty of time to procrastinate calendar buying next year!

Jim Boz is coming to Huntsville, AL!!!!!!! The Beledi Club of Huntsville will host the wonderful Boz July 18-20, 2008. All the details aren’t on the Beledi Club’s website yet, but here’s what we have so far:

•	Hafla Friday night either at the hotel of choice or The Studio … possibly wandering to my favorite local gay bar just to amuse Jim and show him off to my friends there.
•	Four hours of classes with Jim on Saturday that will be decided upon at the Club’s January meeting. Check out Beledi Club of Huntsville’s Tribe for a listing of what our options are. http://tribes.tribe.net/belediclub and to keep up to date on our progress with planning this event.
•	A few specially chosen vendors … we have invited Faye and Bipin (who just so happen to be friends of Jim’s), plus Linda (local Beledi Club Member) and Belilah (Beledi Club member) who will be selling Eye Kandy!
•	Show Saturday night at the American Legion which will be a benefit for the local ASPCA, a charity near and dear to the Bozman’s heart. There will be a cash bar and a simple menu available to order from (things like burgers, chicken fingers, fries, pizza, etc). We’re considering having a silent auction or something of the sort to help get money for the ASPCA. The Legion gives us this location for free since we do charity shows, so big kudos to them. Tickets to the show will be $10 each or included in your price if you pay for the workshop by the Early Bird deadline (June 1). Performers aren’t expected to pay for the show, but are asked to make a $5 charitable donation.
•	Three hours of classes on Sunday will be a bit more advanced than that offered on Saturday, but not beyond anyone who survives the previous 4 hours with Jim.
•	Prices are going to be great! The Early Bird Price offered is $125 if paid for by June first. This includes your ticket to the show and 7 hours of class with Jim. After June 1st, the price changes to $150. A single day of classes will be $75 if paid for before June 1st or $80 at the door.
•	We’re working on getting pricing for hotel rooms, but that’s still in the works …
•	Put this one on your calendar – you’ll kick yourself if you miss it!!!!!

I should have stayed afterward and hung out, but I came alone and didn't know anybody. But I did arrive about an hour early and was sitting at the table behind the door and saw everybody as they came in. Megha's husband told me that my henna was very pretty, which is effing awesome because it's my first time having henna, doing it myself. I didn't know he was her husband when I was getting my ticket. He just starting commenting on my henna, and then told me that one of the girls in Devyani did henna also, and I said 'oh , that's Megha!' and he goes 'she's my wife!' and I go 'what? she is not, get out'. It was funny. Traci was talking to the people at the two tables next to mine, that was a gorgeous coat you were wearing over your costume. I started to ask about it, but didn't want to interrupt. Very pretty though!

Raquy and the Cavemen were great. I almost wish they were in a different venue though, because noise from the back of the place was lousy interference for those sorta in the middle trying to hear. Especially when performers were speaking, even ones with mics.

I seriously enjoyed the other dance groups as well, especially the first girl, I never did catch her name at all, and the trio. I can't remember if they were the ATL group. Hmm... I've got some site searching to do again.

I just wanted to tell all you Devyani ladies what a great time I had watching you guys perform. And I don't remember her name, because I haven't learned the names of all you girls yet, but that pregnant chick, sister you rocked my socks when you danced. Fantastic!!

Anyhoo, enough rambling from me. :)

Johanna, Riz's fearless dancer partner has fallen victim to breast cancer. This was very sudden she went into the Dr with a problem. 2 weeks later they are removing a breast.

In short shes like most of the rest of us who are professional dancers UN INSURED. I am uttlery amazed and how the East has came togehter to help her.

A Dancer is Sarasota who is a surgen and plastic surgen donated the complete operation
and even got the OR from the hospital and 1/3 of the rate.

Sadly Johanna now faces 6 months of Kemo with a price tag of about 20 grand. Our area is becoming tapped out on fundrasiers to help her..

I want to hold the Mack daddy fund rasier for her.

We are planning the "Hafla From Hell" and hoping for a raffle to match.

Please help get the word out to vendors to donate something for this raffle.

We need almost 20 grand.and any little bit at this point helps.

Hey everyone in Devyani land!!! I have (another!) beautiful baby boy! He was born two days after my due date on August 1 (he was holding out for August!) at 3 AM and was 8 lbs. I danced and taught up until a week before I had him:) I strongly feel that dancing helped me with my labor and delivery- very fast and intense, but well worth the work! I am enjoying bonding with the baby but am also excited to get back in the studio---- Can't wait for you all to meet him!!!! Jenny
